People who think “suicide is selfish” are very ignorant
I just feel like if someone is at the point where they can truly go through with ending their own life- it’s insanely silly to hold them accountable like an average healthy functioning person. I mean suicide is not “out of nowhere”- yes it can be unexpected to YOU but there will ALWAYS be a history of struggling with mental health leading up to it. I know it’s unimaginably painful for loved ones left behind… but even in the case of a father leaving his wife and children alone in the cruel world- I believe it’s unfair to call him selfish.
The very definition of the word “selfish” refers to someone who thinks of their own needs without consideration to other’s needs. Hence, I find it strange that people easily ignore the fact that people who commit HAVE struggled for so long prior to taking their life BECAUSE of their deep consideration for the needs of others.
It’s almost as if- hear me out here- suicide is in a way the most pure form of selflessness… but that’s another topic.
