Blu Ray When 4k is Available?

I've seen a lot of Barnes and Noble Pickup Posts where some of the movies in the pile are 4k and some are Blu Ray? Why do people choose to buy the Blu Ray of Criterion's when they have a 4k player and the 4k version is available? Is it just transfer issues like "In the Mood for Love"? Just curious.
