Questioning The "Boyfriend"
So a while back, my boyfriend cheated on me with seven other people (guys and girls). He said he didn't do anything with them sexually, but was a "social experiment" to see if there was anyone else better than me. After a week of being bitter and angry toward him, I forgave him like a dumbass. Now (July 2026), I am questioning whether he is doing the same thing since his hours got cut at work. We have been to couples therapy several times about issues and my boyfriend's therapist said he is not an emotional, lovey-dovey type of person. The most important thing is that I have had sex with him many times over the two years we have been together. He is on PREP, I am not. (I need to get on it as soon as possible, but health insurance is not great from current job). I really worry about Sexually Transmitted Diseases from him. He said he was sick with the "flu" for two weeks and is just now getting over it. He tends to lie about many things and I do not trust him with numerous things. He has had a rough upbringing with a physical and emotionally abusive father and was a victim of being abused by male and female prostitutes. He also grew up in a rough environment full of high crime and was in multiple foster care homes. Is it really worth it to continue to work on things with him or should I let him go? It really hurts sometimes that he is emotionally detached and I find that many things we do not have in common or very few at the least... Please help. Thanks! <3
