Donner MPM2 preamp remote control interruption

I have a Donner MPM2 preamp for my record player, and I recently got a buffet cabinet I want to house it in. I want to have the preamp inside of the cabinet, with the turn table and speakers on top. I put it all together and realized that the preamp can’t receive signal from the remote control if the cabinet doors are closed. I haven’t found any information that indicates that there’s a way to extend the reception, maybe through an antenna or something? Any help would be appreciated!
