Color variation with Origins figures

Is this just a typical thing? I've noticed this on a number of my Origins figures that the same toy will be a shade different from the same toy. Is this just due to cheaper production? What's going on?

I thought maybe I was storing my figures improperly, so I started paying attention when I bought them. They were slightly different on card as well.
