Random hospital fees

I already paid $3,400 towards the surgery and I was under the impression that facility and anesthesia fees were a part of that. After calling them they informed me that I may receive an additional fee if the anesthesiologist had a partner. Why is healthcare the only industry where you have no idea what you are paying?
