how do i place at nlc

this was my second nlc that ive attended and i again came back empty-handed. i feel really distraught esp because all of my friends at my chapter have placed at nlc at least once. i just want one chance to show everyone that im also capable of achieving something worth noting, as i currently have nothing to show for myself not just in fbla, but in every other academic pursuit ive tried. if anyone has any tips for me, whether it be choosing an event to compete in, study resources, or presentation advice it would be so unimaginably appreciated. im tired of being a bum, and i want to do something with myself.
