GI Hyposensitivity
Hello! Not looking for medical advice, just wondering if others have experienced similar. (However, delete if not allowed)
I’m currently going through diagnosis for EDS, so currently undiagnosed, but leaning to hEDS.
I’ve had IBS-D symptoms for years, since I was 10/11, diagnosed last year since I finally got a scope. I’m now in my mid 20s. While my bowels weren’t “normal” to others, they’ve always been consistent to me. 16 years later, they recently made a sudden change. Within a week, my bowels swung the other way functionally, and I realized hadn’t had a bowel movement in 5 days. This was a few months ago and I’ve gone through some testing, and it’s believed to be caused by rectal hyposensitivity.
I’ve searched this subreddit and I’m getting a lot of experience related to IBS type symptoms, prolapses, etc. but not much on rectal hyposensitivity! I’m wondering if it’s something commonly encountered by those with hEDS
I would be interested in hearing experiences about this, like when it came on for you, if you’ve always had constipated BMs or there was a more sudden switch like me, and whether it ever got better for you.
Thanks!
