Frontier Flight 071 CUN to DEN on July 4 cancelled due to cut tire
Picture is from the rescheduled flight the next day.
After pre-boarding was already underway, a flight delay was announced. After about 45 minutes the delay turned into a cancellation. Apparently the tire was damaged during landing/taxiing on the previous flight and was noticed by the ground crew.
About 30 minutes after announcing the cancellation, the gate agents then announced that no hotel or transportation would be provided, nor any compensation for expenses. A miniature riot ensued at the gate and Frontier finally relented to bus everyone to a hotel for the night.
It is amazing to me that with as many flights that Frontier operates in CUN that they do not have a single spare tire available. It also seems that other carriers probably operate A321s out of CUN and there should have been a spare tire available somewhere. Apparently our spare had to be flown in from Houston.
Any operations folks out there know if this is just standard Frontier operations, or was this a situation of many things went wrong to get to this point?
