At the point of giving up with my mirena.

Seeking Advice

For over a decade I went through 2 mirena coils to help manage the heavy bleeding from my PCOS and for those years it was genuinely bliss and was essentially period free (started in my 20s now in my 30s)

At the beginning of last year I started getting bleeding despite the IUD being in, thought okay, maybe it's failing so I went through the process of removal/insertion which genuinely was awful as on reinsertion the doctor doing it insisted on me doing a pap at the same time (despite me vehemently saying no thank you) so she removed, did the pap without my consent, and then reinserted without realising the gas she was giving me for pain relief was empty 🥲 only noticed after the procedure.

And ever since then I've had an absolutely miserable time with my Mirena. I got it inserted in January and have been bleeding constantly to the levels of my pre-IUD days. I've been desperately looking at threads on here over the past few months and the common advice was give it six months so I decided to try and make it worth it especially considering it was $400 to buy and then another $50 for the procedure.

But it's over six months now and I'm experiencing a new symptom which whenever I sit down at a desk/on the couch I get a stabbing pain in my uterus which causes more blood to come out and I can feel a poking/cramping sensation. The other night the pain was so severe I was crying while writhing from 4pm - 11pm. I've had an ultrasound and everything is in place, no test seems to point out anything abnormal. That its 'normal' but I'm at a loss.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Did it get better for you? Im really averse to taking it out as I don't want to waste the money spent on it but it's getting to that point really.

I so deeply miss the days where I was period and symptom free. :(
