Questions about career change and culture

Hello everyone, I'm 31M currently working as a site foreman but thinking about a change into the fire service. I want a job with more purpose. Also the company I work for the majority of people want to do the bare minimum and trying to drag people along and keep high standards is such a drag.

Im in the greater Manchester area and heard about the Technical Rescue unit and having done some research I would be keen to work towards that. I'm just wondering -

1. what Is the workplace culture like on the watches in general and on TRUs.

2. How hard would it be to work towards TRUs are they competitive to get into?
