Transitioning from Data and Analytics to PM

hey all,

trying to make a career transition to pm after spending 8 years in analytics. want to be able to have more influence on product strategy and actually talk to users and customers and take something from 0->1. has anyone made this switch recently? how should i think about this transition?

more context: i already do some pm work on the side at work as an extra thing. not seeing a way to transition internally unfortunately so need to start looking outside.

what should i do differently as i look for new roles?
