Air Ramp- anyone here been involved in an incident involving crew stairs and airplane?

Been working on the ramp for quite about 7 months now and just recently was steering crew stairs and supposedly hit a pitot tube while backing out. I followed my supes hand signals while also keeping an eye out on the aircraft. Supes been in hot water with the higher ups and looking for someone to blame. Anyone have any insight or experience as to how this shakes out? Really worried about getting fired over it even with the union backing me. Thanks!
