Any downsides for Microclove/lawn mix?

I'm located in Northern Illinois, and was thinking off doing clover/lawn mix to reduce the amount of chemicals, and maintenance required on the lawn. The propaganda online it seems like its way better for the environment and much less time consuming to maintain. Other then the fact some people don't like the way it looks. Is there any other cons from doing this that I am not understanding?
