I built a Muslim app blocker because I kept opening distracting apps on autopilot

Assalamu alaikum. I built DeenUnlock because normal app blockers felt too generic for the problem I was trying to solve.

The issue was not only screen time. It was the habit of opening distracting apps automatically, especially when I wanted to be more consistent with Quran, dhikr, dua, salah, and learning.

DeenUnlock is a complete Muslim-focused app blocker and prayer toolkit. You choose the apps you want to block, and before unlocking them you complete a worship action: Quran, dhikr, dua, salah, or ilm.

It also includes a full Muslim prayer toolkit with 4 prayer sections:

  • Quran reading and audio
  • Dhikr and tasbih
  • Dua library
  • Salah

And 9 practical tools:

  • Prayer times and reminders
  • Qibla
  • Wudu
  • Fasting
  • Zakat/khums
  • Rakat
  • Islamic calendar
  • Tahajjud
  • Tarawih

It supports Sunni, Shia Twelver, Ismaili, Bohra, and other Shia traditions.

I would genuinely like feedback from Muslims who struggle with phone distraction:

Would you use an app that asks you to do a small act of worship before opening Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or other distracting apps?
