Lies to start a fight

Is this a narcissist trait? Lemme explain. Im a caregiver, my client needed to run errands today. I didnt get to take a meal break at my usual time. My boyfriend was already bugged by that because we talk during my breaks. Next thing I know hes texting me a picture of an empty box of ice cream treats in the freezer calling me rude. Implying that I ate the last one and put an empty box back in. I know for a fact I haven't even touch the box in months and honestly forgot they were in the freezer. He claims thats not true. Anyway I know hes lying about it but my question is if this is a normal tactic with narcissist partners? It just seems like he wants something else to be upset about. Is this something I try to confront or just let pass?
