“Picking this dunya over akhira”

(Rant) 🤬

Muslims always want you to suffer through your life and tell you you’ll be rewarded when you die for your sacrifices. As much as I wanna believe something will come out of our miseries, you’re telling us to “just get used to it”. Let it pass. Pray for something better. So many people don’t know they have more options. Back before I met my husband, I would dream of a guy coming and getting me out of my family’s house. So many other Muslim women want this to be their reality, that’s why you see so many of our women desperately wanting to get married. Some get lucky and get fair husbands who they love. Some end up getting abused and living their lives catering to someone else. If my husband was a POS, I guarantee you all the Muslims around me would tell me to have patience and to switch MY behavior to get him to be better to me.

That’s just an example of people telling you to sacrifice yourself for the afterlife. They encourage you to stay trapped. Instead of telling you, you have more options and you don’t have to live like this.

A way more mild example; I have my nails done majority of the time. I usually get extensions and bold designs. My sister in law always looks at my nails and says that she wishes she could do her nails. Even on her wedding day, she saw me with my makeup and hair & she said she wishes she could wear makeup and have her done. She didn’t even have her nails done that day either, not even press ons she could remove because “men will look”. Every girl, every BRIDE deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day. It honestly just broke my heart. But it also irritates me because when she makes those comments, it’s like a self reassurance thing for herself that she’s “doing the right thing” and I’m giving into the temptations of this life. So yeah, I feel irritated as fuck sometimes.
