I had something happen today and I'm wondering if I could get a ticket for it.
I was stopped at a red light on a road with four lanes: one left-turn lane and three lanes going straight. I was in the middle through lane when I heard sirens approaching from behind.
I immediately started moving left to make room. The car to my right also moved right, but it seemed like they could have moved over more and were taking their time. The truck to my left didn't move any farther left, so I couldn't move over any more without risking hitting them.
As the police vehicle got closer, it stopped behind me and the car to my right, started honking, and the officer yelled, "Move over!" I honestly couldn't tell who they were yelling at, and I couldn't safely move any farther because I was boxed in by the other vehicles.
Eventually, they were able to get through.
Could I still receive a ticket in the mail for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, even though I tried to move over and had nowhere else to go? If so how can I fight it?
