(Brand new)Guitar hero pedal connection issue to my drum kit.

I have an almost in perfect condition guitar hero drum kit. Not even any cosmetic damage it’s in such good shape. Battery box spring are perfect everything! I recently bought a new pedal from a company that sells them! The exact same guitar hero pedal for the guitar hero drum kit. Only now the pedal sometimes doesn’t connect? And sometimes it does? Feels like it takes like 20 mins to connect weirdly sometimes?? I am fairly new to guitar hero so maybe I’m just not connecting it properly? do I need an adapter or just connect it straight into the back of the drum kit? I saw somewhere briefly, that apparently the new pedals adapter is like a smaller mm cable than the old one or something? That’s why it’s having sensor issues? Because the new cable I have is slightly small? Maybe I need an adapter I just don’t know
