I wonder how Liz and Hugh will have the conversation about Pierce in c10
I'm just at the very end of R10, where hugh liz broke up and right before she goes for treatment I'm assuming.
What constantly makes me think is how Pierce raped Liz. And how Hugh doesn't seem to grasp the seriousness of what actually happened. And i donot blame Hughie, i understand where he's coming from honestly
But i believe for Hugh liz to get back together and to heal and move past this heartbreak, it's very important for Hughie to realise that Liz didn't cheat. In R10, hugh already acknowledges that liz's hypersexuality made her do it. But what he doesn't grasp/know is that Liz didn't sleep with Pierce KNOWING that she was sleeping with him. That she thought it was Hugh so there was absolutely no consent from her part.
Liz tried telling hugh that she was drunk , that she thought it was Hugh, but combined with her behaviour otherwise due to her manic state, how in some scenes she seemed unapologetic, Hugh doesn't really hear her about what actually happened that night. Also partly bcuz liz couldn't explain it like it should've been, given her spiralling.
I'm just wondering how this topic will be brought up between them in c10. Bcuz it's so so imp and it NEEDS to be brought up. What i don't want is for Hugh to think that she cheated and he forgives her. Since Hugh didn't grasp the gravity of it once when it happened, will he be able to understand that what happened that night was actually assault? More importantly does liz know it as assault? Can she have a conversation with hugh about it? I'm really really hoping that this gets cleared up and i think Hugh is mature for his age already and i want to see that reflected in the next book. Oh and also bcuz the rapist should get what he deserves.
(Ps. Can we talk about an inconsistency too? In binding 13 liz tells claire and shan that she lost her virginity to pierce in a car. That wasn't the case tho, was she lying intentionally to keep the details of the breakup hidden? Or is it another inconsistency from cw?)
