Midyear Excerpt Share: What Scene Are You Proud Of?

Yo! Since we’re halfway through 2026, I thought this could be a fun writer check-in.

Share one excerpt from something you wrote during the first half of 2026 that you’re proud of.

It doesn’t have to be your “best” in some official, polished, final boss paragraph kind of way. It can just be a scene, moment, exchange, description, line, or character beat that made you sit back and go, “Yeah, I like that.”

A few optional things you can tell us:

• Why did you choose this excerpt?

• What were you trying to show in the scene?

• What does it reveal about the character, dynamic, world, tone, or conflict?

• What part of it are you happiest with?

• Was this scene easy to write, or did it fight you the whole way?

• What kind of reaction were you hoping readers would have?

This can be from a longfic, one-shot, drabble, original work, fanfic, OC project, canon character piece, crossover, rarepair, anything.

No fandom knowledge required. If people don’t know the source, they can still react to the writing, the mood, the character energy, or the scene itself.

To help keep the thread active, try to reply to at least one or two other people if you post. You can mention a line you liked, ask a friendly question, or say what stood out to you.

Please keep things positive and respectful. This is more of a showcase and discussion thread than a critique thread, unless someone specifically asks for critique.
