Experience renting in Scotland (Black Prince, others?)

We're looking at renting a narrow boat from Falkirk to Edinburgh and would love to hear experiences from anyone who has rented a boat for that trip or has other insights! We've never done this before (would be coming from the US). Black Prince rents out of Falkirk, a few others as well.
