Card Balancing Approach

As far as I've gathered, the team over at EC decided that if a card text is updated on curiosa then that is the current effect of that card. This was on the knowledge level test in discord.

That surely is an interesting approach but leaves me with many questions. Aside from ability text, can card rarity, mana cost or threshold be affected by this?

Also, should cards that have an Updated text within them maybe have an asterisk at the end of their name so that the competitive player base doesn't need to open every card view modal to check for changes, thus reducing the possibility of an unexpected change being unnoticed?

I don't mind this approach, I'm fairly new in the grand scope of it (less than 2 months in) and trying to find the best way to navigate the approach as a player.
