Most people who are upset about Sony ending physical discs for games don't realize we passed the physical era of gaming a long time ago.
So if you don't know Sony the company behind PlayStation games says they are ending physical copies of games after January 2028.
Now what many people seem to not realize is we have passed the era of physical games a long time ago. We are no longer in the era of Nintendo 64, Gameboy, GameCube, DS,PS1,PS2, OG Xbox or Xbox 360.
All of this hate is honestly people who haven't paid any attention to how gaming has been going forward. First off PC gave up physical disks years ago and is thriving off steam.
Today if you buy a "physical" game you are still required to download said data. That means that all of these "physical" games are not actually physical but glorified key cards/discs. You can no longer put a game in a console and it start up immediately but instead have to wait for a download also you can no longer get 100% of a game instead pieces have been split into "dlc" that's locked behind paywalls.
The physical era died a long time ago people have just began to see that and now are only turning this into a "gaming" apocalypse because they weren't mentally prepared for such an eventuality.
