Plasma vs LCD? Is it really that bad?

I only have enough space for a 32inch tv on my desk to play my old ps2. Problem is, I can find plentiful LCD tvs at cheap prices in my area, but hardley ever see plasmas below 40inch. I've heard that LCD tvs are quiet bad at displaying ps2 games despite having the correct composite/component ports. Are they actually that bad or is this more of a purist opinion? Should i wait and try and hunt for a plasma?

I dont have the space for a larger tv or crt. Posting from Australia.
