I get clapped in PvP most of the time and I have no idea how to get better

Some background, if you would.

I am a humble new player, finished the main game + both DLC as quality Farrin Greatsword enjoyer + occasional Avelyn ranged option (then switched to Gael's crossbow)

Ever since I've been farming in Anor Londo the guards for extra souls (currently got to level 140ish), and when I found out about Covenants and how they work, I've been meaning to clear them.

I did get both rewards from the Blades of the Darkmoon, and now I switched to Aldrich's Faithful for the Human Dregs.

I'm finding way more purchase in terms of multiplayer action compared to the former covenant, so I am happy about it.

However... I just suck and die most of the time.

I try several setups, though I have to say I am a sucker for aesthetic so I don't always seek minmaxing especially when it comes to armor pieces.

I notice most of people I find online wear big armors and swords+shield or very rapid weapons I just find myself being relentlessly stabbed with.

I feel so powerless most of the time, even when I prepare myself with possible consumables, it's always hard to actually do anything once PvP happens.

Is there a way I can learn/improve?
