What’s on your wrist?

General Discussion

Hi all,

Mods, I hope this is okay to post.

I’ve recently started an Instagram page called @watchesofthebluelight, and I thought this community might appreciate the idea.

For a bit of context, I’m a Prison Officer with 8 years’ service and a lifelong watch enthusiast. I’ve always found it interesting how many people in emergency services rely on a watch every day, and that there’s usually a story behind why they chose that particular one.

Whether it’s a G-Shock that’s survived years on response, a Garmin you use for fitness and shifts, a CWC, a Seiko, a Citizen, or something you’ve worn since your first day in the job, I’d love to hear about it.
The page isn’t about expensive watches or showing off collections. It’s about the watches that have been there through long shifts, foot chases, paperwork, nights, public order, and everything else policing throws at you.

If you’d like to be featured, send me:
A photo of your watch
What watch it is
Why you wear it

If you’re happy to say whether your response, neighbourhood, firearms, traffic, custody, or another role, that’s great but if you’d rather stay anonymous, that’s absolutely fine. Please don’t include anything operationally sensitive in your photos.

I’m hoping to build a community around the watches worn by the people who serve, and it’d be great to have some police wrist checks on there.

Thanks, and stay safe.
