help with japanese LLs, region change, etc.

around next month theres a good change ill order myself a new 2ds LL from japan. im very much aware that of course being japanese, its gonna be set in that language and it will also accept japanese only cartridges due to region lock.

before i do anything stupid, can anyone lend me a hand and tell me any step i should take if i get to mod it so i dont miss anything? cant really mess this up lol

all i wish to know is if im gonna need to region change (and change language in the settings) only or if theres something more i should do. afaik, eshop and pkmn home wont work, but one has been closed and i wont need pkmn home so i should be fine.
