How do I travel solo on a budget and how do I avoid overenthusiastic people in a hostel?

Vent / Rant

Bruh I just book these hostels because I want a cheap stay, not because I want to "meet new people." I don't mind being called a spoilsport, I'll sit in front of my laptop even on vacation to look busy, just to avoid these overenthusiastic, overfriendly kiddos. I hate the fact that these places have "vibe creators" and "superhosts" on their payroll whose sole job is to pull people into their community nights and game nights. I mean, I get it, there are people who love that. But there are also people who just a want a bed and filtered water ffs. Please, how do I tell these people to leave me alone without telling them? On weekdays, I try to make excuses that I got virtual meetings, but how to avoid them on weekends? I hate having to creep in and out of the hostel, hoping they don't catch me yeah.

I know this is what hotels and AirBNBs are for, a private holiday. But if I need to book a 3k/night 2bhj BnB, I need friends to share that with, and what are friends btw?

I really hope India expresses a Japan-like culture and we don't come across the you-know-how type of crowds in hostels.

I swear this is my last solo trip ever. I'm never gonna earn enough to afford a hotel that feels safe enough or those AirBnBs. So this is the end of my travel aspirations.
