How often do you bring up long-term career stability when discussing roles like sales, marketing, or customer service with a student?

We ask because it points to something worth sitting with.

These roles are often seen as less stable than the "traditionally recommended" ones, engineering, product designing, law, medicines, etc., even when the actual data on demand and longevity tells a different story. Every business, in every industry, depends on someone bringing in revenue and someone keeping customers after the sale. That isn't a function likely to disappear.

We explored this idea further in "By Default or By Design," a reflection on why these professions deserve a more accurate place in how we think about long-term careers.
