Doing a TEFL course then going to Spain on a student visa as a Brit

Hi Guys,

So I'm doing as much research as possible into my options regarding a move to Spain, and as a Brit it seems like a nightmare because of Brexit. Firstly I want to improve my Spanish to a point of fluency, so I was planning on doing a 6 month intensive Spanish course in either Madrid or Valencia, which would qualify me for a type D student visa which you can also work for up to 30 hours a week on. Now I would quite like to stay in Spain for a longer period than 6 months, which would mean switching to a work visa by the end of my student visa. So I figured if I do a TEFL course, perhaps I could find a teaching job. However, I fear this might not be easy, as "EU hiring law dictates that employers cannot just hire a non-EU citizen – they first have to prove that there were no suitably qualified EU citizens who could do the job, which is not a very likely proposition." Furthermore I also read "the ability to directly switch from a student visa to a work permit after graduation has been removed." and "To switch to a standard work visa immediately after studying, you generally need to have completed at least one year of higher education in Spain." So essentially, is my plan a no-go? Has anyone else had experience doing this. It seems so incredibly difficult. Simply doing the 6 months Spanish school is plausible, but switching to a work visa and staying for longer just seems impossible.

Any help or advice is much appreciated. I've been getting excited about this for a while but the more I research it the more it seems implausible.
