Newly diagnosed and wondering how to improve my daily comfort with life

I'm new here. It's pretty mind boggling to realize I didn't know something about myself until I was in my 40s which in retrospect is so obvious. That said the 90s/early 00s were not going to support this in girls. They barely accepted the existence of ADHD in anyone who wasn't a hyperactive little boy at that point. It just kind of explains why I haven't ever really found my people in a friend group, but I am a satellite to several friend groups. I also taught history and civics for 15 years where I basically got to info dump on some of my favorite topics pretty much daily.

This summer has been one of kind of realizing how much I actually like who I am knowing that yeah others might have seen me as a little odd, but that it's really ok. My husband has been hella supportive of the entire process, and is the only person aside from my siblings who knows.

The place where im still struggling is how to accommodate myself in real life to make my life better. I wore my loops earplugs to see Supergirl with one of my nieces this week and it was the first time I've ever done that in public.

How do you all be gentle with yourselves, and are there tips and tricks or items that will make this basically happy acceptance of knowledge about myself a way to help me live better in the world?
