Matchmaking change suggestion
(Inspired by that post about getting survivors with meme perks when you bring meta and vice-versa)
Because there's only one way to play DBD (not including events), players often have mismatched expectations of what kind of game they are playing. Even an added ranked game mode wouodn't 100% fix this, as similar games that have "casual" and ranked modes end up heavily balancing the ranked mode, while letting anything go in the non-ranked mode, leading to the most broken combos still being played in "casual".
My suggestion is a system I saw in Magic Arena's Brawl mode. For those not familiar, Brawl is a format where almost all cards released are legal, but you can only have one of them in a 100 card deck. It's meant to be as similas as possible to the paper game mode Commander, which is a more casual and "fun" game mode. At the same time, the nature of the format allows some incredibly opressive and unfun playstyles. So how did they deal with this mismatch? The most powerful/oppresive cards are given an extra value, making your deck have a number attached to it when you queue up, and the game prioritises matching you those players that have a similar value assigned to their decks.
I believe assigning a value to perks and killers, and prioritising matching other players with a similar level of viability would improve DBD matchmaking. Would it be perfect? No. Would it be an improvement over what we have right now? Yes, but so would literally anything, this is just my idea.
This would also help with the new player experience, as most new players figuring things out would be less likely matched with 4-person SWFs running full meta.
There could be issues with this system, as highly skilled players could bring weaker perks to be matched with less experienced players, but without the advantage the most powerful perks can give you, in my opinion, it's closer to an equal playing field.
TLDR.: give loadouts a score based on viability, and prioritise matching with players who have a similar score
