George Sr, Georgie, and Connie get WAY to much glaze.

There are tons of kids on tiktok taking clips of the show and letting people take things out of context and push their narratives. Let me say my arguments against these narratives.

1. George Sr. was one the best fathers in sitcom history.

George was actually a mediocre father and husband. I hate to say it but he never made an attempt to bond with his children, everytime he did something big for the children (ex. Taking Missy to red lobster), Mary suggested it and had to force him to do it. George complained about having to take care of the children on his own (Very hypocritical of George here considering he had no issue when Mary or Connie takes care of them.), and tried to pass his responsibilities on to Mary or Connie. The only time he tried to step up and be a parent was to spite Mary. Last but not least, George was blatantly rude to Mary when she's trying her best and downplayed her struggles.

Honorable mention: The whole 'Mary had one kid while George has three kids' statement that kids constantly regurgitate over and over is so hilarious and so wrong. Please don't try to say it here.

2. Georgie is a good person.

Georgie is a weirdo and womanizer. He never really cared about Veronica, Jana, or Mandy. Veronica and Jana were flings and Mandy was supposed to be another fling, but plot twist, they had CeeCee. He used religion to get closer to Veronica and kissed her without consent, was terrible to Jana, and lied to Mandy about his age. (I'm not showing favoritism to Mandy, she is in the wrong as well.) People overlook all of this because he is a good father, attractive, and he's funny. Y'all would have no problem bashing his character if he was unattractive, a bad father, and an annoying scumbag.

3. Meemaw (Connie) was a good grandmother/mother

Yeah no, Connie was VERY neglectful and it's heavily implied throughout the show. Connie barely cared about her own children, due to the fact she openly disrespects Mary, her other children have cut contact with her, and Mary having to fend for herself and her siblings. She's only more caring for her grandchildren, but she's still neglectful. (Ex. Letting her grandchildren out of her supervision.) She admits constantly that she doesn't like her own grandchildren, It doesn't matter if she doesn't mean it, that's still messed up to say the least.

Connie is a selfish opportunist. If she sees an opportunity that will benefit her, she will do it in a heartbeat. (Ex. Using Sheldon to win bets once she saw he could calculate which team could win.) She doesn't care if her actions affect others if it's giving her a benefit, she will only care if it affects her negatively. She is not the sweet, funny, caring grandmother y'all paint her to be.
