Sara’s criticism of Graham Platner felt more like an attack towards Sunny?
I really hope that I don’t get crucified for asking this question. I really just want to hear other people’s thoughts.
I started watching The View in 2016 and one of the things I’ve always liked about it is that even if the co-hosts deeply disagree with one another, they don’t go below the belt with their comments on the air (except for when Meghan McCain was a co-host).
In yesterday’s episode, a few things struck me when Sara spoke on Graham Platner. I know that she never liked him (and rightfully so), but it felt like she was pointedly attacking Sunny by using Sunny’s words against her. It felt less like a critique of GP and more of a chance for her to drag Sunny.
Sara opened with using the Maya Angelou quote that Sunny often uses. Then she said that if you were willing to plug your nose and vote for GP then you are the problem. Sunny said in past episodes that she’d be willing to plug her nose. When Sunny quipped ‘Well I guess then I’m the problem’, Sara profusely nods her head.
Sara disagrees with Joy and maybe Ana from time to time, but I’ve never heard her use their quotes against them when she wants to prove a point. Joy will say things like ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’ or ‘When they go low, we go lower’ and when Sara disagrees I feel she’s able to do so in a professional and respectful way.
I felt like yesterday she was seething and being passive aggressive and it wasn’t just about criticising the Maine candidate. It felt like she wanted to cast Sunny in a bad light by using her specific words against her.
I’ll probably get dragged for my observations, but I want to make it clear, I definitely think it’s right for GP to step down. I also don’t completely agree with Sunny on her views regarding the situation and it’s right for people to call her out for it. I just don’t know if it had to be done in such a pointed and passive aggressive manner like Sara.
If she wanted to, Sunny could also make passive aggressive remarks in Sara’s direction like ‘If you believe genocide is wrong for one group of people (the Holocaust) then all genocide should be called out as wrong’ or something along those lines.
Or she could call out Sara’s point about jerseys and use that against her. But Sunny is a skilled debater and I don’t think she’d use those kinds of tactics.
I’m not saying Sunny is perfect. There are many things I disagree with her on, but I think she’s far more skilled at debating points and disagreeing professionally. She is also very assertive and I think I prefer assertive than passive aggressive.
I don’t know. Sara’s energy toward Sunny just felt weird to me and honestly a bit below the beltish.
