I posted a colour jitter tutorial a few days ago. Here is the process of my now finished painting!

I forgot to start the timelapse until I’d already finished the sketch and laid down a few colours 😭

**1. Underpainting**
\- this is typically a traditional painting technique, but the gist is to provide a base colour that can inform the rest of the painting.

**2. Blocking in shapes and establishing light source**
\- highly recommend you get your light source down early as the your values can change the composition of your entire piece

**3. Sculpting form using shading**
\- now that you have your light source, you can start blocking in the shadows. In my process you can see a few points where I undid then redid how the light hits the creature; I’m constantly asking myself, “If the light hits here, where will the shadow fall?”

**4. Detailing**
\- you don’t have to detail everything! Objects farther away will be less clearly defined.

**5. Additional effects and colour correction**
\- I blurred out the tree in the foreground to better create a sense of distance. I also adjusted the colours slightly to my liking.

Feel free to ask me any questions about my process! This is the first digital painting I’ve done on my new laptop so I’m also in the middle of sorting out colour calibration 😅 Hopefully the next one turns out better!
