AIW for not training my replacement?

Hi everyone,

Recently my boss has hired someone (35F) to ‘help’ me (23F) during our busy period. (I work at a photography studio in post production). At this point I was full time and we had two other part timers.

Over these past few weeks this person has became incredibly bossy and frustrating. Which in return just annoys me because I’ve been here for over a year while she’s been here a few weeks and she doesn’t understand how we operate. I had suspicions she was hired to replace me and a few people I know were saying that was likely the case.

A week ago my boss reduced my full time hours to 20 hours a week and this ‘helper’ is still here. A few days ago my boss had a meeting with the whole production team and has proposed a restructure which would have one full time manager and everyone else would be redundant. This proposal leaves the part timers out of the question as they don’t have the availability, so it’s just me and the new hire. I assume my boss wants her to be hired and not me considering her even being employed in the first place. We’re allowed to disagree with the proposal, which I’ll be doing, but I doubt this will change my bosses mind. If we don’t disagree, we’re allowed to apply for the full time manager position.

It is quite likely the new hire will get the job which leaves me incredibly frustrated as I feel like my boss lied to me about the reason of her being hired so I’d train her. There is still a lot she needs to be trained on but I have absolutely no interest in doing this. I most likely have 5 weeks left at this workplace. (I find out the decision next week then four weeks have to be given to me for redundancy).

I know the professional thing to do is not to take it personally and to train her but I felt like I’ve been slapped in the face. I’d rather leave on bad terms than be walked over. I remember telling the new hire when she first started about how excited I was to have finally been given full time work, and now she’s taken that from me.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
