Changed my mind about Aikido
Hello,
I am coming from two traditions. One is being European and training Karate, the other is being part of the western martial art systems kickboxing and MMA where Aikido doesn't enjoy a good reputation.
What happened to me during my maturing is the following. I have started to notice how much Japan have contributed to the martial art community in the world. So I am noticing how many of the haters toward internal and traditional MA are having no clue of their posture, how much they abuse substances just to finish a fight and never to go back to their own training, just to mumble about how they once 20 years ago won a fight.
Another thing that happened is that once I quit western martial arts and get back to karate, judo etc... my posture started improving significantly and many bad habits were polished. Then I started working internal with Hara focus, Taikiken, Ritsuzen exercises and I started to get the idea about the inner mechanics of these traditional arts and the importance of the intent.
So I just want to learn some Aikido to be honest as adding its philosophy to the way of my life. I just don't know where to start from. As a comeptitive person Tomiki Aikido was fun to watch and I have seen this person Koichi Tohei on YouTube. Can you recommend me a good practicioner with some of his teachings?
Thank you!
