Dashcam always on in cigarette lighter port ? (Gen 2)

Hi all, 2008 escape hybrid that I use as a gen 2.

I recently bought a rove 4k 2k dual dash cam that I plugged into the main dash cigarette lighter adaptor. I would have thought that it would turn off when I turn the key off , thereby shutting down the camera, but it does not. As you can imagine this is not good for my battery to leave running all night.

Is there an easy fix for this besides hardwiring it somewhee? I'm not opposed to that, and I have some technical skills so I am sure I could watch some YouTube videos to figure out where to do it, I just don't have the time.

Is there an easier fix for this? A quick search says that I can switch fuses so that it is no longer always on? I didn't go too far down that path, but that just doesn't seem like the right answer. A fuse is a fuse, it either works or it is blown. Or is there some sort of minimum current threshold with a new replacement fuse where it wouldn't power the lighter until the engine is actually on and gets above the new threshold?
