Unpopular opinion: doing all your content on Monday is actually kind of a bad idea
Everyone always says "just do all your social media on Monday and you're set for the week." I run a small business and did exactly that for almost a year. Monday was my content day, like 4-5 hours just writing captions and picking photos. Then the rest of the week I just replied to comments and got back to actual work.
After a while I noticed my Friday posts always felt kind of flat, like they didn't match what was actually going on that week. So I changed things up and it's been a lot better:
Monday. No writing at all. I just spend like 20-30 minutes looking at what did well last week and what flopped.
Tuesday. This is when I actually write and shoot stuff, but just 2-3 posts, not the whole week. Older posts fill in the extra days on their own so I'm not stressing to fill every single day (I use RecurPost for that part, makes it a lot easier for me).
Wednesday. Catch up day. Reply to messages, fix anything that didn't post right, maybe add one more post if something's trending.
Thursday. Mostly just replying to comments and DMs. Barely any writing.
Friday. Quick look at what's working, loose plan for next week, done early.
Doing everything on Monday felt productive but it meant my whole week's content came from one mood on one day. Spreading it out let me actually react to what's happening instead of just running a plan from four days ago.
Anyone else run their own business's social media and find batching worked fine for you? Or did you move away from it too?
