Hard Flaccid, tight pelvic floor and the Wise-Anderson Protocol
Did anyone try the Wise-Anderson Protocol (aka Stanford Protocol) for HF or tight pelvic floor?
It was initially created to help people suffering from pelvic pain (in it's many kind of forms) - but it seems people have used it successfully for HF as well.
It consists of two parts:
-
Physical Therapy & Self-Treatment: Hands-on trigger point release—both internal (aka anal) and external—is used to identify and release spasms and trigger points within the pelvic floor. Patients are taught to perform it on themselves.
-
Extended Paradoxical Relaxation: Because the tension in the pelvic floor is frequently linked to a chronically hyperactive nervous system, this behavioral component trains people to stay in a "rest and digest" parasympathetic state of their nervous system, to give the sore tissues/PF muscles time to heal (imagine you've squeezed your hand for years, even after stopping the squeeze, the tissue still might feel bad)
They've written a book about it called "A Headache in the Pelvis."
