Are we overusing FAQ schema in the AI search era?

I've been auditing a few sites lately, and one thing keeps popping up—almost every page has an FAQ section, even when it doesn't add any real value. It made me wonder if we're doing it because it genuinely helps users or just because it became an SEO habit.

With AI Overviews and AI Mode, Google already understands context way better than before. So instead of adding 10 generic FAQs at the bottom, would it be smarter to naturally answer those questions throughout the content?

Personally, I'm starting to think structured, well-written content beats forcing extra FAQs onto every page. Curious if anyone has tested removing low-value FAQ sections and noticed any impact on rankings or AI visibility.
