[NJ] New Construction Warranty Law

Real Estate law

Location: New Jersey
I’m coming up to about a year where my home was built when I purchased my home. My lawyer at the time told me to wait and get a home inspection a little bit closer to a year mark because of the New Jersey New Home Warranty and Builders’ Registration Act.

I’ve since completed the home inspection, and lawyer says to simply email it to the general contractor to address. My spidey senses are tingling and telling me that something doesn’t seem right here. Can somebody please educate me a little bit more about this law?

The inspection report found some issues are workmanship issues that could come with a hefty repair cost. I actually questioned the builder about some of the findings during construction and he refused to address or just ignored.

Thanks in advance!
