We need to talk about this
Hi everyone,
Lately, I’ve come across several people who have openly shared how they were deeply hurt or disappointed by experiences within the church during their Christian journey. Some eventually walked away from their faith, while others held on to Christ but found a different church or denomination where they could continue to grow.
Personally, I’ve experienced hurt from church leaders, my own mother, and others. By God’s grace, along with the support and wisdom of faithful mentors, I was able to hold on to my faith. Looking back, I realise how significant that support was.
I’d love to hear your story if you’re willing to share. What challenges have you faced in your Christian journey? Have you experienced hurt within the church? If so, what helped you persevere—or what made you struggle?
My hope is that by sharing our experiences, we can encourage those who may be suffering in silence, remind them that they are not alone, and become more aware of how wounds within the church can affect a person’s faith. I pray these conversations also help us become a more compassionate and Christ-like community.
