Uniqlo | “no optical brighteners”

I’ve gotten a few white graphic tees from Uniqlo whose care tags specify “no optical brighteners.” For white shirts, is there a known issue or reason for this? I already skip the citric acid so as to preserve the adherence of the graphics to the fabric. Just curious!
