Comparing Wrist Strap vs Neck Strap Which One Is More Comfortable for Long Shoots?

I used a neck strap for years because I figured that's just what everyone does. It worked fine at first, but after a few hours of walking around with a camera hanging from my neck, I was pretty much over it. My shoulders and neck would start complaining real quick.

A buddy told me to try a wrist strap, so I grabbed one before a weekend street photography session. It felt kinda weird for the first hour, but after that I got used to it. The camera was easier to grab fast, and I wasn't dealing with something bouncing against my chest every few steps.

That said, the wrist strap wasn't perfect either. Carrying a heavier camera and lens all day made my wrist feel tired, especially when I wasn't putting the camera back in my bag between shots.

These days I switch depending on what I'm doing. If I'm walking around for hours with a lighter setup, I usually pick the wrist strap. For weddings, events, or when I'm using a heavier lens, I still grab the neck strap because it spreads the weight better.

If you're trying to decide, I'd say don't assume one is better for everyone. Your camera weight, shooting style, and how long you're out all make a huge difference. Trying both for a full day taught me way more than reading reviews ever did.
