12mo Schedule Check: Persistent EMAs on a 3.25/3.75/4.5 schedule? (Independent Sleeper)
Looking for some schedule help for my 12-month-old. We are dealing with persistent early morning awakenings (EMAs) and I’m trying to figure out if we have an overtired or undertired situation happening, and how to optimize the 2-nap schedule. Our current DWT is 06:00, but baby is consistently waking up well before this (often around 04:30-05:00) and struggling to get back to sleep. Here is our current routine based on DWT: DWT: 06:00 Nap 1: 09:15 – 10:15 (1h) Nap 2: 14:00 – 15:00 (1h) Bedtime: 19:30 Our wake windows look like 3.25 / 3.75 / 4.5. Total daytime sleep is capped at 2 hours. Night sleep total is supposed to be 10.5 hours, but the EMAs are cutting into that.
We aren’t ready for the 1-nap transition yet as baby still definitely needs both naps.
Some more info about our baby: Falls asleep 100% independently at bedtime and naps. Last meal is at 18:00 (6:00 PM), ends around 18:30.
When baby wakes early, we try offering water and giving back rubs in the dark. If that fails, we rry nursing, but both methods usually fail and baby just stays awake until our 06:00 DWT. Any advice or tweaks from you experts would be amazing! Thanks!
