Feedback wanted: fuel price data as an alternative data product
I’m building Fuel Price Hub, a daily station-level fuel price data global (currently European countries but soon Mexico) platform.
The idea is to make fuel prices usable for analysts, researchers, market teams, and alternative data workflows. The product tracks fuel prices by station, brand/operator, fuel type, geography, and update freshness across multiple countries.
I’m not trying to do a hard pitch here. I’m looking for honest feedback from people who work with alternative data, quant research, commodities, retail analytics, trading, or market intelligence.
I’d be curious to know:
- What KPIs or coverage metrics would you need before evaluating this?
- Would station-level fuel price data be useful in any research or commercial workflow?
- What delivery format would matter most: API, flat files, recurring feed, custom extracts?
- What would make you trust or not trust a dataset like this?
I’d appreciate direct feedback, especially from anyone who has evaluated or purchased alternative data before.
