my story with limerence

Question

Hey everyone,
I don’t know if anyone can relate to this, but I need to get it out.
A year ago I had two meetings with a guy. Two. That was it. We had a talking stage before, then he ghosted me after the second meeting, came back months later, apologised, and disappeared again after some time. Since then: complete No Contact. I tried everything, but nothing worked.
And yet he is still the biggest part of my life.
I developed a really strong limerence for him that just won’t go away. I think about him every day, sometimes every minute.. I miss him so much it physically hurts. Even though I know how badly he treated me, even though he’s probably moved on completely, my brain has marked him as “the one.” No one else even comes close to that intensity. I almost feel disgusted by the idea of liking anyone else.
I recently got diagnosed with BPD, which explains a lot. But it doesn’t change the fact that I’ve been stuck in this cycle of longing, sadness, and desperate hope for over a year.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? That one person takes up so much space after so little time and just won’t leave? How do you cope with it? How long did it take for it to get better (if it ever did)?
