Need advice about a strange interaction with two strangers

It was supposed to be an ordinary day.

I was walking down the road, thinking about my own things, when two girls walked past me. A few steps later, they suddenly turned around, came back, stood in front of me, and asked,

"Are you...?"

They said my name.

For a moment, I just stood there, confused. I had never seen either of them before. They weren't from my college, they weren't from my village, and as far as I knew, they were complete strangers.

They told me they had been trying to find me for months.

According to them, they had searched for me on the internet, checked my college's Instagram page, and looked through different places online. Since I rarely use social media and keep a small circle online, they said they couldn't find me for a long time.

Then they asked for my phone number.

Everything happened so suddenly that my mind almost stopped working. Before I could properly think, I gave them my number.

Later that day, my phone rang.

It was them.

At first, the conversation was completely normal. They asked random questions like whether I had eaten and a few other casual things. It felt strange, but not alarming.

Then the conversation took a completely unexpected turn.

One of them asked who lived in my house besides me.

Without thinking much, I answered that I lived with my mother, my father, and my aunt.

There was a short pause.

Then she asked,

"Do you want to know who your real family is?"

For a second, I didn't even know how to react.

She started hinting that there was another family connected to me, almost as if she wanted me to believe I had been adopted or that there was some hidden truth about my past.

Something about it didn't feel right.

It felt less like a conversation and more like someone trying to pull me into a mystery.

She asked again if I wanted to know.

This time, I answered clearly.

"No."

There was no argument.

No pressure.

She simply replied,

"Okay... fair enough."

Her younger sister then told me that I should just think of them as cousins and not ask too many questions.

That only made everything even stranger.

If they truly knew something important, why avoid explaining who they were or how they knew me?

During that conversation, something unexpected happened inside my own mind.

A dream.

A dream I had many years ago.

I had completely forgotten it existed until that exact moment. Suddenly, fragments of it came back, making the entire situation feel oddly familiar.

But I reminded myself that it was only a dream.

Dreams are memories of imagination, not evidence.

After the call, they found my Instagram account and followed me.

I noticed the notification.

Even now, I haven't followed them back.

I'm waiting.

Watching.

Thinking.

Ever since that day, the incident has been replaying in my head over and over again.

How did they know my name?

Why were they looking for me?

Why ask me not to tell my family?

Why ask who lives in my house?

Why begin with ordinary conversation before saying something so extraordinary?

I still don't have answers.

But one thing has never changed.

No matter what any stranger says, the people who raised me, cared for me, supported me, and stood beside me throughout my life are my family.

That is something no mysterious conversation can erase.

Maybe those girls know something.

Maybe they're mistaken.

Maybe they're lying.

Or maybe there is another explanation I haven't even considered.

Right now, I simply don't know.

And until I have real evidence, I refuse to let mystery become truth.

Some stories begin with answers.

Mine began with questions.

I'd really appreciate hearing what you think about this situation.

If you were in my position, how would you react? Would you continue talking to them, ignore them, block them, or tell your parents about the whole incident? Do you think this sounds like a misunderstanding, someone trying to manipulate me, an elaborate prank, or something else entirely?

I'm not looking for people to confirm my fears or tell me it's definitely true or definitely false. I'm more interested in hearing how you would approach this logically and what you think my next step should be.

Any advice, different perspectives, or similar experiences would be genuinely appreciated.
